Floral Art Questions (FAQ)
-
How far in advance should I book? The sooner, the better! Fruit Of The Bloom will do our best to accommodate every order, but our studio space can book up fast. We recommend you book your date as soon as you can.
-
What is your minimum? The minimum for a custom floral preservation order is $200. There are a multitude of Bouquet Blocks and Artwork Additions to choose from, but if you are interested in highlighting many or most of the flowers in your bouquet, we suggest starting with a Bouquet Block. Feel free to reach out for recommendations based on your unique blooms and style!
-
How does payment work?We require a nonrefundable $100 deposit to reserve your date and space in our studio. The remaining balance is due when we receive your flowers, before we will begin the preservation process, and the $100 will be applied to your order total.
-
How much does shipping cost?Costs associated with shipping vary greatly depending on your location and the courier service used and can be anywhere from $50 to a few hundred dollars. There are two options to help mitigate these costs: Local drop-off and pick-up - If you live within 50 miles of the Fruit of the Bloom studio, we would be happy to arrange pick up of your flowers for a flat rate of $50 Dry at home - We can provide detailed instructions on what to buy and how to dry your flowers at home. Dried flowers can then be mailed to Fruit of the Bloom using standard shipping, with an additional discount of $50.
-
Can you preserve previously dried or artificial flowers?Yes, we’d be happy to preserve any air-dried bouquets, regardless of age. We can also work with wood or silk flowers.
-
My wedding/special event has already passed. Can you still work with me?If you no longer have your flowers, send us photos of your bouquet, and we can talk to our local floral partners to recreate your arrangement, for an additional fee.
-
Are there certain flowers you do not work with?Succulents, cacti, anthuriums and hypericum berries do not dry well. If you would like to replace with artificial versions in your floral pieces, feel free to ship to us. Alternatively, we are happy to source faux versions, for an additional fee.
-
How many flowers do you need?It depends on which keepsake(s) you are ordering, but we recommend you send us your entire bouquet so we can pick the best flowers. If you are ordering a Bouquet Block AND Artwork Additions items, please also ship us your bridesmaid bouquets or centerpiece arrangements so we have enough blooms to choose from for your order. It’s always better to send extra flowers whenever possible, especially with delicate flowers like anemones, chrysanthemums, lilies, mums, orchids, peonies and tulips.
-
How long does the process take?Orders typically take 3-4 months to complete. We treat your delicate flowers - your precious memories - as if they are our own, and this process cannot be rushed. We promise it will be worth the wait and will provide you email updates about your carefully crafted botanical art.
-
Will my flowers look the same as they did when they were fresh?Drying flowers in silica sand is the best way to preserve a bouquet’s natural beauty, but slight changes in color are inevitable. Reds and purples tend to become darker and whites can turn off-white or a little yellow. Some flowers, particularly white blooms, may appear translucent or “bruised” once they are cast in resin. The less your bouquet is handled, the better. If tossing the bridal bouquet is an important part of your wedding reception, we recommend asking your florist to create a separate bouquet for the toss.
-
Can you put other objects in resin?Yes! We love incorporating other items into your personalized floral keepsakes. Photos, hairpieces, jewelry, lace, ribbon, glass shards (from the breaking of the glass) and invitations are just an example of what can be included. Reach out if you have an idea you’d like us to execute!
-
How long will my floral keepsakes last?Flor-ever! Fruit Of The Bloom uses premium, crystal clear, UV-resistant, VOC-free (Volatile Organic Compounds) epoxy resin to ensure your bespoke botanical art can be enjoyed for decades. Over time, however, the resin will develop a slight amber, “vintage” color, which is inevitable for all resin and is totally natural. To keep your pieces from yellowing prematurely, please keep them out of heat, humidity or direct sunlight. To clean them, use mild soap and water and dry using a microfiber cloth. No chemical cleaners, please.
-
Do you take last minute reservations? Some events in life are not planned. Memorial keepsakes are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact us for availability.
-
Do you offer gift certificates?Yes! Adding a “preservation fund” (ie: gift certificate) to your registry, if you have one, is an excellent way for friends and family to contribute to your flor-ever keepsake.
-
My wedding date moved. Can I reschedule?Reservation dates can be rescheduled and are subject to availability.
-
Do you accept returns or exchanges? All sales are final, and all payments are non-refundable. If there is an issue with your order, please let us know as soon as you receive it. Due to the nature of our handmade process, please know that imperfections may exist. Resin is a finicky medium, and while we will do our best to try and eliminate bubbles, it is likely that there may be a few bubbles in your final pieces as well as “pour lines” visible on the sides of blocks. These elements are all part of the beauty of your one-of-a-kind artwork.
